Lake Barkley, Kentucky

The sloped site with its dramatic views to Lake Barkley was the main force behind the concept of the Lake house. Important was the desire of the client to make the kitchen/ dining area the social hart and center of the house. Two separate areas, one for entertainment and another for more relaxed seating were to be visually  and functionally connected to the center. The open floor plan, the beautiful views and exposure to the daily moving sun resulted in a Y-shaped plan and massing of the house. The long side walls are punctuated with small and elongated windows to capture views and light. As the site  moves downward towards the water, the roof raises upward towards the lake, giving  the interior a dynamic feel of space and light.

The large panoramic windows facing the lake visually connects the social hart with the outside experience.
